Benjamin Salazar, Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert, DHS, Science & Technology Directorate

Benjamin Salazar serves as a cybersecurity subject matter expert at the DHS Science & Technology Directorate. Benjamin has worked with multiple layers of the cybersecurity technology stack, including software development, software analysis, hardware analysis, and network analysis in various roles for the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and Department of Homeland Security. His current role allows him to provide technical guidance on multiple projects affecting the homeland while directing strategic investments in cybersecurity for a more secure future.

Alexandria Phounsavath, Lead-Data Analytics Technology Center, DHS Science & Technology Directorate

Ms. Alexandria Phounsavath provides leadership and guidance for research, development, and deployment of advanced computation and data analytics at the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate. She leads teams of subject matter experts to address a variety of homeland security challenges, including social media analytics, automated risk assessment, and data driven investigations using big data approaches. Ms. Phounsavath has over 15 years of experience in analytics, strategic planning, finance and budgeting, and research and development.

GTSC continues to bring you the people, information, and collaboration necessary to understand our government partners.  Cyber days is one of our broadest programs bringing those tasked with defending both their agency and the nation from cyber hackers, criminals, and terrorists.

LOGISTICS: For Cyber Days 2021 you will receive the login information for the day’s webinar before 10:00 am EST each day.  You have the option of registering for both the full series or individual sessions.  If you registered for the full series, you’ll get your link to join the webinar each morning and do not need to register for individual sessions. Registrations for individual sessions work the same way — you will receive your access link the morning of the session.

ABOUT SALVATORE SARACENO:
Salvatore Saraceno began serving as the Head of the Contracting Activity (HCA) for the United States Secret Service in September 2020. In his current position, Salvatore directs 43 Contracting Officers and Contract Specialists awarding over 1,700 actions valued at $350M for supplies and services safeguarding the nation’s financial infrastructure and payment systems to preserve the integrity of the economy to protecting national leaders and visiting heads of state and government.
Before his role as HCA, Salvatore served as the Chief, Technology Contracting Division, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). At USCIS, Salvatore was involved with the cradle-to-grave acquisition of software licenses and maintenance, computer hardware and peripherals, and mission critical information technology services vital to the success of the USCIS mission. Prior to performing as Chief, Technology Contracting Division, Salvatore served as a Contracting Officer on a $1.4B Weapon System Sustainment contract for the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Lifecycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Peterson AFB, CO. This role with the USAF allowed him to utilize his contracting and management skills in the sustainment of space satellite weapon systems throughout the United States and its Ally partners.
Salvatore retired from the USAF as a Major/O-4 and held several roles from contract specialist, contracting officer to acquisition staff officer for Headquarters United States Air Force Space Command. He received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College, and he holds a Certified Professional Contract Manager certification from the National Contracts Management Association.

The DHS Mentor-Protégé program is designed to motivate and encourage large business prime contractor firms to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small businesses, veteran-owned small businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged businesses, and women-owned small business concerns. With its participating Mentor-Protégé Companies, the program is also designed to:

  • Improve the performance of contracts and subcontracts.
  • Foster the establishment of long-term business relationships between large prime contractors and small business subcontractors.
  • Strengthen subcontracting opportunities and accomplishments through three incentives. (see Section 1.5 of Program Details).

The Government Technology & Services Coalition is extremely pleased to host the First Annual State Department Days to examine the missions, programs, and goals of the U.S. State Department.  Webinars feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and subject matter discussions for approximately 1.5-2 hours daily from June 14-21st, 2021.

GTSC continues to bring you the people, information, and collaboration necessary to understand our government partners.  For our first State Department Days, we will host discussions around the Department’s procurement goals, IT transformation initiatives, their small business strategy, and much more.
