ABOUT

The first Advanced Combat Helmet Light (ACHL) was designed and built by two soldiers while deployed to Afghanistan. The two soldiers, one of which was a team medic, identified a capability gap in the current military helmet lights that needed correction. The current lights mounted on the side of the helmet causing light to project outward, not downward where it is needed. In response the soldiers designed an inexpensive, light weight, and effective center mounted light that would project a flood light downward from the brim of the helmet to the immediate work area. The light was designed to fit in the dead space between the tactical helmet and the NVGs to ensure it does not protrude from the helmet. Due to its mounting location and angle, the ACHL can be used while working with others without blinding them. The ACHL’s center-mounted, multi-use design provides much needed downward projecting light while reducing weight and providing an inexpensive alternative to the side mounted tactical helmet lights. This compact, center-mounted, multiple-output helmet light features four white LEDs, two red LEDs, one blue lens and a blackout cover.
