Maria Horton

Ms. Horton, the CEO of EmeSec, is a recognized cybersecurity and compliance expert with hands on experience in cloud, FedRAMP, CUI and cybersecurity. Her company, EmeSec, is one of 43, FedRAMP 3PAOs and holds four ISO certifications.

Ms. Horton and EmeSec provide expert guidance on FedRAMP as well as meeting the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS) 7012 compliance requirements that are required by December 2017. She and her company consult on a customized subscription basis to help organizations drive and facilitate compliance at an optimum value. Most recently, the second volume of #SimplifyCUI entitled: Countdown to Compliance was released. EmeSec was awarded a Silver Stevie Award for the first eBook #SimplifyCUI and its business to business services in May of this year.

Ms. Horton has multiple publications including Bloomberg News, SC Magazine, and the Huffington Post. In 2017, she joined Government Matters TV as a regular guest commentator addressing cyber, CUI, and due diligence implications for SMBs. She also works as a mentor to other woman owned and small business start-ups providing real world feedback, encouragement and industry advice. Ms. Horton is a retired Navy Commander and the former CIO of National Naval Medical Center which is now the Walter Reed Army Medical Complex.
